THELMA M. (Van Dyk) DAY

     Thelma Day, age 92 years, of Browns Mills, NJ, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Lankenau Funeral Home in Pemberton, NJ.  A Christian Mass will then be celebrated at Grace Episcopal Church in Pemberton, NJ. at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Odd Fellow’s Cemetery, Pemberton Borough, NJ. 

     Thelma was born December 31, 1929 in Midland Park, N.J. and was the daughter of Fred Van Dyk and Alvina Van Dyk (nee Hanna).  She graduated from Pompton Lakes High School where she played women’s varsity basketball, and was a member of the New Jersey All State Chorus.  She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and later in life she attended Burlington County College as a business major.

     Thelma was also a private piano instructor in Japan and throughout the United States, and she also worked as a book keeper for various companies located in New Jersey.  She enjoyed singing, listening to all forms of music, spending time at the beach as a young adult, crocheting, arts and crafts, and having lunch with her friends.  She was known as Ma Day by many who loved her.   

     Thelma is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Krehl, her son-in-law, Garry Krehl, her granddaughter, Jennifer Krehl, her son, Clifton J. Day and her daughter-in-law, Sara Day (nee King). 

     Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifton A. Day, and her parents, Fred and Alvina.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials in Thelma’s name may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Pemberton, NJ., or Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.
