Robert “Bob” Louis Shagg, 80, formerly of Browns Mills, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Homestead at Hamilton, Hamilton, NJ.
Bob was a Veteran of the United States Army, honorably serving during the Vietnam era in Japan.
Bob worked as a Maintenance Technician for Griffin Pipe in Florence NJ for over 40 Years, where he retired from in 2009. He had a tireless work ethic and set a stellar example for his children. He was the hardest working man they ever knew.
Bob loved muzzle loading and bow hunting with his sons, restoring old guns, furniture, and Volkswagens, crafting knives, collecting antiques and studying history, particularly the Revolutionary War period. He had a special love of animals, particularly dogs, and was known to often bring home a stray animal. Most of all, and especially as he aged, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. It didn’t matter what they asked him to do, he always showed up.
Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness, generosity, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will live in the hearts of his loved ones.
He was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Elizabeth Shagg (Heary), his brother Herbert “Sandy” Shagg and wife MaryLou, and his daughter Wendy. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Shagg, his children Cary Shagg (Lori), Corey Shagg (Kris), Amy Shagg, Sharon Palmer-Melendez (Bruce), and Colleen Fues (Josh) and his treasured grandchildren, Christian, Elizabeth, Brandon, Casey, Anna, Evan, Cameron, Caiden, Connor, and Cassidy.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth Street, Pemberton, NJ 08068.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., at The Lankenau Funeral Home. Followed by Military Funeral Honors conducted by the United States Army.
