Job Linton Poinsett, age 91 years, of Southampton, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2024, at home. He was affectionately known as Linton.
Linton was predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) Poinsett and Hazel M. (nee Hargrove), and his brother Lee and sister Myra Poinsett.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Lori Poinsett, daughter Michelle Poinsett, Grandson Eric Poinsett, and great-grandsons Nico and Lennox Poinsett.
Linton was born in Buddtown, NJ in 1933, in the house across from the Buddtown Methodist Church, and grew up in Southampton, NJ. Linton graduated from Pemberton High School. As a youth, Linton helped to farm his grandparent's farm in Southampton. Then, he drove a bulldozer briefly before he began delivering oil for Fort & Hargrove Oil Company. Linton retired from Fort & Hargrove in 1998.
Linton's interests included men's softball and bowling. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, deer hunting, riding his horse Montana, and driving his speed boat. He was a lifelong member of the Buddtown Methodist Church, where he enjoyed the covered dishes, church picnics, and rummage sales. He was an active member of the Burlington County Farm Fair Committee, Junior Mechanics, member of the Grange Hall in Vincentown, 4-H and was involved in the Vincentown Memorial Day Parade.
Linton and his family enjoyed many summers in Ship Bottom. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
The viewing and visitation will be held at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton Borough, NJ 08068 on September 27th, Friday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, and September 28th, Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM to12:00 Noon. The interment will be in Vincentown Baptist Cemetery.
