Lillian C. Davis, of Pemberton Township, passed away Friday morning at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, Leonardtown, MD. She was 87.
Born in Washington D.C., Lillian married her late husband James E. Davis, Jr, in 1961 and 11 years later moved to Browns Mills, NJ, in 1972.
She graciously devoted approximately 20 years of her life to the U.S. Army as a Civil Servant working as a Budget Analyst until she retired in Jan 1995.
Lillian was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington, NJ where she served under Rev. Dr. Richard Wise Jones. She also volunteered in the soup kitchen each Monday, to provide free meals to anyone in need, no questions asked, serving all with a spirit of compassion. She loved her music, dancing and enjoyed many hobbies to include tennis, walk-a-thons, traveling, bike riding, and working in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mable Garland, father Robert Bell, husband James E. Davis, Jr, sister Anne Ward, and grandchild, Shenae Moore. She is survived by her son, Everett Davis, her daughters, Deborah Bullock (Willie), Jacqueline Moore (James), Beverley Jackson (Louis), and Anita L. Davis-Crumbley (Allen); 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephew Tony Ward and niece Prentiss Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, 1 Jun 2022 at Lankenau Funeral Home, 370 Lakehurst Rd, Browns Mills, NJ. The viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. preceding funeral services. Interment will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ, TBD.
