On December, 2, 2022, Lillian Caswell (nee Vittor), 92, from Manville NJ, passed peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, in Browns Mills NJ.
Lillian was born in Plainfield NJ. After graduating high school, she worked as a secretary before meeting the love of her life, William Caswell They were married on June 27th, 1953.They moved to Manville in 1969, where they bought a home and raised their family. While raising 6 children she also became a bookkeeper for W. Caswell and sons Home Improvements. In 1972 she began her career in Accounts Receivable at Baker & Taylor Publishing Co then John Wiley & Sons Publishing and in her 70's became a full-time babysitter to her grandchildren.
Lillian was a loyal parishioner at Christ the King Church, now Christ the Redeemer Church in Manville NJ. She rarely missed a mass and certainly rarely missed a Bingo. Bingo was her passion and her biggest joy in life, next to her family. She was in a bowling league at Manville Lanes until she was 81 and suffered a stroke, which she recovered from well and it gave her an extra day for Bingo! She loved to plan and decorate for parties and little dinner get togethers at her home. She would plan and dress up for Halloween parties at her jobs and she loved weddings and any celebration where she could dress pretty and dance all night.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years William F. Caswell Sr. her parents Joseph and Rose (nee Santangelo) Vittor, her sister Katherine Richter (Keene), her brother James Vittor and her son-in-law Francis Fiduk Jr. Also, preceded in death by her brother in-laws Fulgier (Bee) Venitelli, Wilbur Schrader, Allen Caswell Sr,, Frederick Caswell, and her sister-in-laws Eleanor Salter (Calvin), Marlene DeWolf (Charlie) and Margaret Ann Caswell.
She leaves behind six children, who were honored to call her Mom. Karen Caswell from Orlando FL, William Caswell Jr from Manville NJ, Thomas (TJ) Caswell from Manville NJ, Nancy Fiduk from Hillsborough NJ, Robert Caswell (Sharon) from Mawah NJ, and Kelly Schreiner (Bob) from Browns Mills NJ. She also leaves behind 31 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren who adored her and she them. She is also survived by 2 sisters and 1 brother, Rosie Venitelli and Roberta Schrader of Lakewood NJ, and Thomas Vittor. 1 brother-in-law Robert Caswell Maureen) of FL, and sister-in-laws Dorothy Caswell of Piscataway NJ, Gwen Place (Dan) of FL, Gerry Wilson (Jim) of NC
Viewing will be from 9:00 to10:30 am Wednesday at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 370 Lakehurst Rd., Browns Mills, NJ followed by a Catholic Mass at St. Ann's Church, 22 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ at 11 am. Burial will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown, N. Hanover Twp., NJ at 12:30 PM, concluded by a bagpipe rendition of Amazing Grace by Mr. Thomas Hurley.
