It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Larry English, of Browns Mills, New Jersey on Sunday the 25th of August 2024, at the age of 75 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Ronald and Donnie English. His grandchildren, Larry, Ronald Jr., Na’Shea and Meriah (Frankie) Batista. Great-grandchildren Isaiah and Leia. Brother, Charles English and sisters, Carol Hammond, Ida English and Mary English, 10 nieces & nephews, 14 great nieces & nephews, 21 great -great nieces & nephews all of Baltimore Maryland, as well as his special friend Danielle Cruse, numerous relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by his friends of Burlington County, New Jersey.
Larry English was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maria English of 51 years. Brothers, John Jr, Samual and Jerry English. His parents John and Ophelia English.
Larry was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 5th, 1949, to his loving parents, John and Ophelia English. In 1969, Larry graduated from Edmondson High School in Baltimore, Maryland. and was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He enjoyed his career as an Army Enlisted Officer for 24 years. He graduated from Field Artillery Asst (1973), Atomic Projectile Course (1974), NBC Defense Course (1974), FA Cannon Advance Course (1978), Leadership & Management Development Course (1980), First Sergeant Academy (1988). He fulfilled his dream of becoming a First Sergeant E8 in 1988. His dedication to duty, compassion and empathy for his troops were the highlight of his career. Larry was a decorated Dessert Storm, Kuwait Liberation Veteran whose uniform was adorned with numerous medals. Among his many awards, he was most proud of the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. In 1993 Larry retired from the United States Army and pursued a career in JROTC. Larry was hired by the Burlington City High School as an JROTC instructor where he instructed Military principals to hundreds of students for over 20 years. During his year as a JROTC instructor Larry received numerous awards for his stellar leadership from the Burington City Mayor and Common Council Office, Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the New Jersey State Senate Citation for inspiring students to be more activity interested in operation of government and the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship. In 2002, Larry received his bachelor’s degree in workforce Education and development as well as the New Jersey State Board of Education Teacher Certificate.
Visitation will be held 6:00pm to 8:00pm, on Tuesday the 3rd of September 2024, at Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth Street Pemberton, NJ 08068.
A final Visitation will be held 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday the 4th of September 2024, at St. Mark Baptist Church, 545 Lakehurst Rd Browns Mills, NJ 08015. The commencement of the Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am to 12:00pm. The interment will follow at 1:00pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, N. Hanover Twp., NJ.
