Kenneth Michael Volk, age 65 years, of West Berlin, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 28th, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.
Ken was born January 22nd, 1961, in Philadelphia, PA to Charles Henry John Volk and Sumiko Volk (nee Hori). He and his older brother Christopher S. Volk were raised in Bensalem, PA until their move to Browns Mills, NJ in 1967.
Kenny enjoyed the outdoors, cars, motorcycles, and watching the Eagles & Phillies. His strong work ethic and love for sports were evident as a young man juggling newspaper deliveries and blueberry picking with athletics while attending Pemberton Township High School.
After graduating in June 1979, Ken attended Burlington County College, majoring in Criminal Justice, and later enlisted in the Air Force, where he was an asset to the Law Enforcement field on Active-Duty & Reserves until 1992. In 1990, Ken began his career with the Pemberton Township Police Department, where he excelled as a Police Officer & as a Detective. Ken’s most notably served as a D.A.R.E Program Officer and School Resource Officer at PTHS. Upon his retirement from PTPD, he returned to the Law Enforcement Field with the Department of War Police Officer with JBMDL’s Security Forces where he was celebrated for exceptional civilian service.
Ken was in the process of retiring from his long & rewarding career at the time of his passing.
In his family’s words, Kenny “never met a stranger”, and was truly an exceptional, honest, selfless, and dependable friend. Ken was a mentor to all who had the pleasure of knowing or working with him. The memory of his outgoing personality, sense of humor, fierce Patriotism, sense of justice, superior work ethic, and commitment to the care of his community, friends, and family will be carried forward with love and never forgotten.
He is survived by his two children of whom he was exceptionally proud, Nolan Volk, 22, a warehouse technician, and Devon Volk, 19, a nursing student at the University of South Carolina.
The visitation for Ken's family and friends will be held at Pemberton's First Baptist Church, 59 Hanover St., Pemberton Borough, NJ 08068 on May 16, 2026, Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon followed by Ken's Memorial Service at 12:00 Noon. Funeral Services are under the direction of The Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton, NJ 08068.
