Born April 2, 1937, to John F. and Frances (Griffin) Biehn, John went home to the Lord on March 19, 2025. Preceded in death by his loving wife Sandy (Avery). They were married for 63 years and lived in Delanco. Together they were blessed with a son, John S. Biehn, Jr and a devoted daughter-in-law, Patti (Fithian) Biehn.
John graduated from Burlington City High School in 1955. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years on the USS Amphion. As a youth, he delivered papers for the Bulletin and Inquirer, shined shoes for a quarter on Broad and High Streets in Burlington and worked at the ESSO gas station. After the Navy, he worked with his uncle for a while and later was a crane operator for Dow Chemical in Riverside. Using the skills from the Navy, he became a boiler operator for Hercules Chemical Company until they closed the plant in Burlington. Lastly, he was a boiler operator for Georgia Pacific in Delair and retired in 2000 at age 63.
He volunteered with the VFW Post 3020 and was a member of the Royal Order of Skunks, Polish American Club, Turners and Beverly Athletic Clubs, Moose and American Legion, and the Wissinoming Yacht Club. John had many friends and was known for his parties in the backyard. An avid reader of the newspaper (including the funnies) and was always prepared to talk politics; knowing, buying and cleaning cars was his passion.
Founding member of Holy Trinity Church in Burlington and steadfast member of Zion Lutheran Church in Riverside where he was the first acolyte and later a deacon, choir member, and served on the council.
Survived by devoted granddaughter Erin (Eric) Garst, grandson Sean (Shichen) Biehn, and three great grandchildren Evelyn, Leonard, and Leana. Sisters-in-law Jay Pace, Barbara Jackson and Lynn Baskin. Nieces Cheryl (Robert) Pettis, Debra Confer, Jeanette (Doug) Kalar. Nephews Jeffrey (Joye) Fox and J.R. (Terra) Davies.
Preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Harry and Maxine Avery, his beloved sister Dorothy and her husband Sam Fox, brothers-in-law Lynn Pace and Robert Jackson.
John was steadfast and unwavering in his faith with God. His last two and a half years he lived with his son and daughter-in-law. His final days were in their loving care at home with the guidance of Samaritan Hospice.
Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, March 28, 2025. Visitation in the Memorial Hall 10:00-11:00 followed by the service in the church. Internment will be private.
