JANICE M. (Karn) HAGARTY

     Janice M. Hagarty, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, passed away at home Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 73. Janice was born on Sept. 3, 1950, to Charles and Grace Karn in Riverside, NJ. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Charles “Buster” Karn. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lindsey Donahue (Casey); granddaughter, Kaylee Knapp (Kyle); brother Richard Karn (Sue); nephews, Danny Karn (Adrienne) and Kevin Karn; her great-niece, Eloise; and her life-long best friend, Charlene Lazaruk.

     Janice graduated in 1968 from Riverside High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in 1973 from Murray State University, KY. She retired from Howell High School after 32 years as a dedicated Health and Physical Education teacher. Janice was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed spending time with friends and her beloved pup, Aldo, at the local dog park. She was an avid antique collector who was always up to haggle a good bargain. Janice loved watching sports, trying new restaurants, fancy cocktails and her circle of close family and friends with whom she shared them with. She enjoyed many poolside summer parties, vacations in the Poconos, and “Nanny Jannie” never missed the chance to spoil her best friend’s grandbabies with her attention and treasures.

     Janice meant so much to so many. She was hardworking, dependable, and loyal to those she loved always giving generously of her time and heart. She will forever be admired as a portrayal of unconditional love and strength and her memory will live on through the stories and laughter we share in her honor. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

     Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and visitation 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 303 Bridgeboro Street, Riverside, NJ 08075. There will be a brief service at 11:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon at Carlucci’s on the Waterfront. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Burlington County Animal Alliance at www.BCAAofNJ.org.
