James Donald Palmer known affectionately as "Don", passed away peacefully under the care of hospice and family at home on December 29, 2023 at the age of 83 years.
Don was committed to his family and worked hard his whole life to ensure their success. He married his high school sweetheart Edda in 1959 and together they raised a son and 2 daughters. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Don will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Edda (Kelly) Palmer, his son Thomas Palmer and daughters Deborah Williams and Brenda McIntyre as well as his five grandchildren Jamie Freeman, Tommy Freeman, Keith McIntyre Jr, Christine Jackson and Brittany Hatch. He was also blessed with five great grandchildren Cassidy, Aubree, Kole, Keith & Savannah.
In his early years Don grew up on a farm in Knoxville, TN. He then moved to Fort Dix, NJ with his parents and attended Pemberton High School graduating in 1959. He joined the Army serving 4 years in Germany. Returning back home he pursued a degree in Mechanical engineering from a College in New Britian, CT. He worked for many years manufacturing precision helicopter parts for Finn Manufacturing Co. in New Britian, CT. Deciding to return to New Jersey to be closer to family, he embarked on a career in plumbing. He attained his Master Plumber License and spent three decades running his own plumbing business.
Don loved his family, his work, renovating homes and the Eagles.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service planned at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of The Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton Borough
