JAMES CARR Obituary

     James  H. Carr, "Jim", age 86 years passed away on October 21, 2025 in Mt. Holly.

     Jim was a lifelong resident of Pemberton growing up in the town of Pointville until Camp Dix expanded and became Fort Dix.  He then moved to Pemberton and was a graduate of Pemberton High School, Pemberton Borough where Jim played on the Corn Huskers football team which later became the Hornets.  Jim served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He was a heavy equipment operator for the Pemberton Roads Department for 47 years.

     Jim leaves behind his wife of 53 years Maryellen E. Carr  (nee Van Winkle)  He is survived by 7 children Gary and Anita Carr, Gregory and Michelle Carr, John and Stacy Layton, Donna and Dave Barker, Bill and Tammy Layton, Diane and Tony Gonzolas, Darlene and Charles Grafton. Jim leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 2 of which resided with him Cassandra & Wesley Layton, Tyler, Leigha, Billy, Robert, Jenna, Ron, Melissa, Jeff, Jennifer, Chris, Deonna, Amber, Nichole, Jonathan, Stephen, Jade, Lucas, Alayna, Daniel & Chris. He is also survived 14 great grandchildren Kailyn, Zander, Lacey, Liam, Lilly, Arial, Arianna, Alex, Ana, Barbera, Nancy, Greg, Elizabeth & Mary and 2 great great grandchildren Charles and Jewel. He will be missed by many other relatives and lifelong friends.

     Visitation for Jim's family & friends will be held at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton Borough  on October 29, 2025, Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by his Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. He will be placed to rest at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Pemberton Township.
