Iris Mae Nixon (nee Cramer), aged 95, of Vincentown New Jersey passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024 in Cooper University Hospital. Born on August 8, 1928 to the late Abram and Mollie Cramer in Millville, New Jersey; Iris lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication.
As a young girl, Iris lived in several small South Jersey towns before meeting her husband, Theodore Nixon, and becoming a lifelong Vincentown resident. They met in the late 1940s, were married in February 1950, and went on to have three sons. She was a devoted caregiver to her family, enjoyed their country life and never missed an opportunity to strike up a conversation with friends on the front porch.
After completing her education at Mount Holly High School, Iris worked as a bookkeeper for local businesses until the birth of her first son in 1951, after which she devoted herself to her family. They enjoyed vacations to the shore and mountains and watching Phillies games.
A devoted member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church for many decades, Iris was lovingly known by the congregation as “the lovely soprano voice in the front row of the choir.” Her strong faith and musical talent enriched the lives of those around her.
Always quick to have a smile and a story to tell, Iris was known for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Her nurturing spirit and joyful presence brought happiness to those around her and left a lasting impact on her community. Her love for music and family was evident in everything she did.
She is survived by her sisters Juanita Butterfield, Freda Braman and Dottie Kato; her son Roger Nixon (wife Betsy); grandchildren Lisa Beach (husband Jason) Lynsay Ladany (husband Steve), Ben Nixon (wife Missy), Harry Nixon, and Kim Nixon; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Nixon; son Richard Nixon and his wife Loretta, and Theodore Nixon Jr. and his wife Christine; and her parents, Abram and Mollie Cramer as well as siblings Annie Watts, Clyde Cramer, Garrie Cramer, and James Cramer.
A funeral service will be held on August 10th, 2024 at Lankenau Funeral Home in Vincentown New Jersey. Family visitation will begin at 10am, with the funeral service following at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association in Iris's memory.
Iris will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will cherish her memory and the many ways she touched their lives.
