HORACE E. McCURDY

     Horace Edwin McCurdy, age 95 years, of Delran NJ passed away peacefully on June 29th 2024.
     He was predeceased by his wife Lois E. McCurdy. Loving father of Dawn M. Carruol (Greg) and Glenn W. McCurdy (Donna). Grandfather of Brian J. McCurdy (Angie), Alisha L. Eller (Joe), Grace.Carruol, Joseph Carruol, Helen Carruol & Christopher Carruol. Great Grandfather of Mackensie Quail, Felicity Quail, Bobby Quail and Kellan McCurdy.
     Horace Served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany as part of the occupation forces.
     Horace joined the Delran Fire Co. #1 Bridgeboro in 1945 at age 16 and served many positions including chief in 1959 and was a life member. He seldom missed a call until his age prohibited responding.
     After his Military Service, he opened his insurance agency in 1957 in Bridgeboro. His business continues to this day under the ownership of his son.
     ln addition to his service as a Fireman, he also joined the Delran Emergency Squad as an EMT for 35 years. Member of the Board of Ambulance Commissioners, life member and honored in 2007 for over 4000 calls. Often he went on calls when not on duty to help with lifting a stretcher. He had a distinguished career helping others.
     Also known as LOHO, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed picnics with family, time at the shore. You could always tell he was around by his whistling. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed! .
     A gathering of friends and family will be held at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 303 Bridgeboro St, Riverside, NJ on July 8th, Monday  evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again on July 9th, Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am.  The interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
