Helen M. Hulick died peacefully at home with family by her side in Pemberton, New Jersey, on April 4, 2023. She was 83 years old.
She was born Dec. 6, 1939, in Riverside, New Jersey, the only child of Margaret and Samuel Bell. Helen wed Ralph J. Hulick at St. Paul Church in Burlington, New Jersey, and they were married for 46 years.
Family and faith defined Helen’s life. She was a devoted and loving mother to her four children. Throughout their childhood, she was a dance mom, Scout mom, band mom, sports mom. Many of her children’s friends over the years considered her to be their second mom. She loved being a mom, but couldn’t have been prouder than when she became a grandmother with the birth of her three grandchildren.
She was a devout Catholic whose faith sustained her throughout her life. She was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Church in Browns Mills, New Jersey. She never missed weekly Mass or holy day services, even when she was traveling. She was a regular volunteer for the church’s food pantry and at various fundraisers. She also was a lay eucharistic minister and member of the funeral committee and Altar & Rosary Society.
Helen worked for several years at Paul’s North End in Pemberton, New Jersey, though she often liked to quip that she never drank, smoked or swore.
When her husband retired, they enjoyed trailer camping in the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. They also visited Ireland, a bucket list trip for Helen because she embraced her Irish heritage. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the largest and oldest Irish-Catholic organization in America.
She is survived by her children, LisaAnn Hulick and her partner John Smith of Carson City, Nevada; R. Sam Hulick of Seattle; John Hulick and his wife Kristina Lord of West Richland, Washington, and their children, Klara and Kate Hulick; and C. Patrick Hulick and wife Jessica Ware of Cranbury, New Jersey, and their children Aiden Hulick and Aeshna and Zack Ware Huff. She also leaves behind many dear and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and visitation from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton, New Jersey.
