Elizabeth May Willitts, age 81 years, passed away in peace at Virtua, Samaritan Hospice in Mt. Holly on November 17, 2023. Elizabeth was commonly known as Betty Joe, and was Mom, MomMom, MomMomMom, Aunt, friend, and teacher to many.
Betty Joe is survived by her oldest son, Earl Paul Willitts Jr., her daughter Dawn Elizabeth Smith and her youngest son Craig Kane Willitts. She also is MomMom to William Smith and his wife Alexis. She is MomMomMom to their son Jonah, the big brother. She is the widow of Earl Paul Willitts and out-survived her son Brian Joseph Willitts.
Betty Joe worked at Microcircuit Engineering Corporation for approximately 25 years. She was production manager for most of her employment. Prior to that she worked at Inductotherm and Sybron.
One of Betty Joe’s great accomplishments was getting an article in the Pineland Tribune for working with a group of ladies to make masks during Covid 19. Betty Joe purchased a mile of elastic to make the masks. She meets with these lovely ladies every Friday for the Pemberton Twp. Quilting Guild. Betty Joe has made over 30 quilts. During her stay in hospice, she dedicated quilts to young children in the hospital. Betty Joe is also a member and secretary of the Presidential Lakes Civic Association. She took part in community clean ups and other events. Betty Joe took classes to become certified to work on the Response Team.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22nd at Messiah Lutheran Brethren Church in Presidential Lakes. The visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM with the service starting at 11:00 AM. At 12:30 PM she will be put to rest at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Juliustown Road, Pemberton, NJ. If you would like to say your final farewell or be there to support the family, we welcome you to join us.
