DEBRA BROWN Obituary

Debra (Debi) Lee Brown (née Melvin) age 70 of Delran, NJ passed away peacefully on July 10th surrounded by her family.

Preceded in death by her father, William Melvin, she is survived by her mother Bettyann Melvin, daughter Robin (Bob) Langer of Delran, NJ, son Dan (Kacie) Brown of Jonesborough, TN, and siblings Jacquie Melvin, Rod (Laurie) Melvin, Sherrie Price, Willy (Mary) Melvin, Renée (Rich) Prutzman, and Joe (Edie) Melvin. She was a beloved Mom-Mom to Bobby, Vera, and Colin as well as a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Raised in Willingboro, NJ, Debi was a “Gryphon,” a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School Class of 1973. She graduated from Berkeley School of Business and started her career as a supply officer at Fort Dix. She went on to become an administrative assistant for multiple local HVAC companies.

Debi was a devout Christian with unwavering faith. She always had a church that she called home. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Delran in their Bible study and Quilters groups.

Debi enjoyed gymnastics and taught at Riverside Turners. She was active in the Col. Thomas Reynolds chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Mt. Holly, NJ, where she was the 2nd Vice Regent, the Corresponding Secretary, and a member of the Fundraising committee over many years.

Debi was best known for her homemade jellies, apple sauce, fudge, and amazing crocheting talent. Many family and friends were blessed to receive her baby booties, blankets, holiday decoration, and every stuffed character her grandchildren requested – she could make anything as long as she had a pattern.

In mourning her passing, just remember what Debi would always say, “Keep Smiling.”

Services will be held on Saturday, July 19 at the First United Methodist Church of Delran. Friends and relatives will be received from 10 - 11AM, followed by her celebration of life at 11AM. Interment will be private following her service, under the direction of: Lankenau Funeral Homes of Riverside, NJ

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:   First United Methodist Church of Delran.  Attention: Board of Trustees, 32 Conrow Road, Delran, NJ 08075

We want to thank the staff at the Cecil and Virginia Gilmore Health Center at the Wiley Christian Retirement Community for all of their love, help, and support in keeping Debi comfortable in her last days.
