CHARLES SHINN Jr. Obituary

     Charles H. Shinn Jr., age 93 years, of Delanco, NJ, passed away peacefully on September21st, 2024.

     Charles was predeceased by his wife Elsie E. Shinn (née. Smith)

     He is survived by his son Henry and ex-wife Peggy Shinn, son David and daughter in-law Linda Shinn, Grandchildren Jonathan and Cody, Priscilla, Joshua and Deanna, Samuel and Brianna, Luke, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

     Charles was born in Riverside, NJ in 1931. As a youth, Charlie helped his father with the family business; “Shinn’s Express” Trucking Company.

     Charles served in the US Navy as a Radio communication operator and was part of the Flagship delegation for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth.

     Charlie held many jobs over the years but he’s best remembered for more than 3 decades of service as a bus driver for Academy Tours, JC Tours, and the Evergreen retirement community.

     Charlie enjoyed many years of camping adventures with friends and family. He loved to travel and the peaceful atmosphere of the outdoors.

     Charlie was a model train enthusiast who constructed a 3-tier train display at the Zurbrugg Mansion, in Delanco, NJ.  Each year, his display was one of the focal points of the town’s Christmas season, delighting both young and old.

     Charlie attended the Park Community, Open Bible, and New Hope Bible churches in the area. He was an active member of the Junior Order of American Mechanics, Evening Star Lodge, and the American Legion.

     The viewing and visitation will be held at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 303 Bridgeboro St., Riverside on Monday, September 30th from 10:00 AM until 12 Noon. The Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 Noon. The burial will be in Lakeview  Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
