CHARLES ROSEBORO Obituary

     Charles Donald Roseboro, a resident of Southampton NJ, peacefully passed away on October 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1936 in Rock Hill SC to the late Emma White and Charlie Roseboro, and his life was marked by significant achievements and a deep commitment to his family.

     Charles' journey began in the York County school system where he laid the educational foundation for a lifetime of learning. He graduated from Emmett Scott High School as part of the Class of 1958. Following high school, he embarked on a quest for knowledge, briefly attending Livingstone University and later dedicating a term of his life to military service as a mechanized infantryman. After serving his country with honor, he pursued higher education, enrolling at Bowie State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.

     Beyond his academic pursuits, Charles was an exceptional athlete. His time at Livingstone University saw him setting a conference record for the 440-yard run, showcasing his remarkable athleticism. His talents on the football field even attracted the attention of the Chicago Bears, a testament to his outstanding abilities and dedication to the sport.

     Charles' professional career was marked by his dedicated service at United Parcel Service (UPS), where he held various positions over more than 30 years, including a role as a supervisor. His unwavering commitment and strong work ethic left a lasting legacy within the organization.

     In retirement, Charles embraced the joys of life to the fullest. He took pleasure in traveling across the United States, exploring a variety of destinations. He particularly cherished multiple visits to the scenic paradises of Aruba and Hawaii.

     Charles' memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who survive him, including his son Charles Roseboro II, who, along with his wife Sharon, will carry forward his legacy. His daughter Tara Bowman also fondly remembers her father and will forever cherish him. Charles' legacy extends to his cherished grandchildren: Deborah, Javin, Amari, Rachel, Nathan, Ciylen and Caleb, who will continue to honor his values and spirit. He is further survived by his cousin Ilena Sanders and her husband Edward, as well as several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Preceding him in death are his three sisters, Anna Jean McFadden, Corine Robinson, and Mildred Gilmore, with whom he shared a deep familial bond.

     Charles Donald Roseboro will be remembered not only for his remarkable achievements but also for the love, dedication, and joy he brought into the lives of his family and friends. His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing him.

     A Memorial Service for Charles will be held on November  5,  2023, Sunday afternoon, 1:00 pm at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton Borough, NJ
