Andre Herrera, a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, passed away on June 18, 2024. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of MSgt. He served honorably for 29 years. Andre is survived by his wife Lydia Herrera of Pemberton Township, NJ; they were married for 25 loving years.
The son of Michael and Joycelyn Herrera. Andre left Trinidad when he was 11 years old and came to NYC to live with his parents. He was born June 9, 1959. Andre is also survived by his 5 children: Kevin, Crystal, Jessica (Pumpkin), Ashley (Princess), Andre Pedro and Ashton (Ton). His siblings are; Victor Theodore, Ricardo, Ronald, Ian, Carolyn and Courtney.
When Andre stood tall he was a full 6'2and 1/2". Andre loved his Honda Goldwing with a passion as it kept him connected to his brothers and sister of the Buffalo Soldiers who he rode with for charity events, fundraisers and other team building events. Andre recently retired in November 2023 from New York City's DEP after 38 years.
Andre's loved ones will remember, this gentle giant for his soft voice, laughter, generous heart and his love for life.
A service honoring the life of Andre will be held at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 370 Lakehurst Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015. Viewing Monday afternoon 2:00 - 5:00 pm and Tuesday morning 9:30 - 10:30 am, Mass services immediately following, Tuesday morning 11:00 am at St Ann’s Church, 22 Trenton Rd., Browns Mills, NJ. Interment with military honors will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, N. Hanover Twp. NJ 08562.
