ALFRED REYES Jr. Obituary

     Alfred A. Reyes Jr., age 91 years, of Browns Mills, Pemberton Twp., New Jersey passed away on September 10th, 2024.

     Son of Alfred A. Reyes and Juanita (Delmondo) Reyes, he was born on November 7, 1932 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He graduated from Waipahu High School in 1949 and enlisted in the US Army shortly thereafter. He first served in combat on the Korean Peninsula at the onset of the Korean War. He would return back to Hawaii, and with family travel to the mainland and continue to honorably serve this Nation for over 25 years before retiring in 1974 at the rank of Chief Warrant officer 3.  His assignments included subsequent tours in Hawaii, California, NJ, Virginia, Germany and the Republic of Korea. He would also serve a second combat tour in the Republic of Vietnam in 1966-67. Among his awards and decorations included the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Cross of Gallantry Medal with Palm, RVN Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal 1st OLC, Good Conduct Medal 5th Award, and Valorous Unit and Meritorious Unit Citations.  

     He is survived by his wife Irynne, his four children from his first wife who passed away 30 years ago: Sheryl Allen of Sebec, ME and husband Seth, Debbie Reyes of Camden, N.J., Darryl Reyes (DJ) retired US Army Colonel of Tampa, Florida and wife Julie, Darlynne Menkin of San Diego, California and husband Marc; Five grandchildren: Patience Sivillo, Jonathan Allen, Alexis Reyes, Samantha Reyes, Christian Reyes; One great grandchild: Jackson Sivillo; and brother Richard Reyes of San Francisco, California as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

     While we lost our beloved Dad, he has been our family's rock and to many others. A master of sarcastic humor and witty timing, he will be sorely missed by family and friends.

     There will be a viewing and visitation for the public at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 370 Lakehurst Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015 on October  17, 2024, Thursday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.   A military funeral/burial service will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, N. Hanover Twp, NJ.
