On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, Robert (Bob) H. Reed died at home in Browns Mills, NJ after a battle with Cancer. He was only 54 years old.
Bob is survived by his Mother, Gail E. McNabb of Whiting; his wife of 24 years, Donna J. Reed; his daughter, Ashley Reed; his siblings John Reed and his wife Charlotte of Manahawkin, Thomas Carroll and Nancy Schwarz Steer of New Egypt, Tracy Healy and her husband Denis of Princeton Junction and Donald Carroll of Whiting, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving Grandparents, his Father, Donald Willard Carroll and his very close friends Steve Craddock and Daryl and Tracy Leming.
Bob was born on November 30, 1966 in Trenton, NJ. He grew up mainly in the Hamilton NJ area but moved to Cream Ridge with his family as a young teen. It was there that he met some truly great friends that he kept for life. Some have passed before him (and must be so happy to see him) and some are left to grieve with the family. It was during these teen years that Bob studied to be an auto mechanic at Vocational School. It was the start of a long career in the industry. He honed his skills and earned the title of Class A Mechanic. Something he was very proud of and his true passion in life. If it had a motor and wheels, Bob could fix it.
Bob married his amazing wife Donna in September of 1997. Donna’s love and patience helped Bob know the joy of having a family of his own. They welcomed their daughter, Ashley into the world together in 2001. Bob would always say thank God she got her Mothers looks and smarts! Donna’s parents, Don and Barbara O’Connor treated Bob like he was their own and Bob loved them fiercely.
Bob’s career took him to many great establishments but one of his first jobs was also his last. His Ridge Road Auto Family were like Brothers to him and mourn his passing with us.
Bob was many things to many people. A unique, talented, loyal person. He could be a stubborn guy but his sense of humor and enthusiasm for all the things and people he loved always shone through. We know he is in a better, pain free place and we will all be together again someday. In the meantime we will gather at a celebration of life for Bob and take comfort in each other.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life is scheduled for Sunday, October 17th from 1 – 5 PM at his Sister and Brother in Law’s Farm at 11 S. Post Rd in Princeton Junction NJ 08550. An outdoor, casual gathering of family and friends is how he would want it. Stop by anytime during those hours to share all the good memories and to raise a glass…to Bob.
In lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks that donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Camden. The good, kind and caring people that cared for Bob there will forever be appreciated by the family.
