Frank was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Oct.15,1935 at Mahaska County Hospital; he was the eldest son of Phillip Wendel Sheeley and Mary Edwards Sheeley. Frank, otherwise known as “Cheese,” by his friends, was an avid member of the Oskaloosa High School football and golf teams, prior to departing off to the Navy to serve his country in 1953.

 After his first tour of duty, Frank re-enlisted in the Navy for life and returned to Oskaloosa to marry his sweetheart Marian Adams Sheeley, of Rosehill, IA. On the ship, he served as an “Operations Specialist” and assisted in navigating the ships he worked on, including the USS Intrepid; he often joked that, that he was the only one that could tell the Captain of the ship “where to go”! He would go on to serve in multiple wars and eventually retire as a Chief Petty Officer. 

Frank was a wonderful father, husband, family man and was involved in the church throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Marian Adams Sheeley; his son, Eric Sheeley and spouse Windy Sheeley, son Mark Sheeley and spouse Brenda Sheeley, daughter Susan Loesch and spouse Linda Denton, daughter Cynthia Walraven and spouse Jeff Walraven, daughter Sara Stahl and spouse Terry Stahl. Grandchildren; Phillip Sheeley, spouse Jodie, Cory Sheeley spouse Beth, Zachary Sheeley, Daniel Loesch, Melanie Goss spouse Brandon, Jeramy Sheeley, Tyler Walraven, Mariah Walraven, Coral Stahl, Brooke Stahl. Great-Grandchildren; Gabriel, Peyton, and Leia Sheeley, Hannah and Cora Sheeley, Kaylie and Madison Loesch, Nasir and Aaliyah Johnson; a host of nephews and nieces.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Phillip Sheeley; in laws Homer and Eve Adams; brother Larry Sheeley, sister Phyllis Sheeley DeCook; Grandson Alexander “DJ Nevoc" Gilchrist and granddaughters Maya Sheeley and Ann Sheeley.
