Mr. Marvin Franklin Free, of Browns Mills, age 66, passed away Saturday morning, February 1, 2014 at Deborah Hospital, Browns Mills.
Mr. Free was born in Habersham County, GA on December 10, 1947, son of the late John Bartley Free and the late Willene Masters Free. Mr. Free was a graduate of Model High School Class of 1966 and attended Coosa Valley Technical College prior to enlisting in the military. Master Sgt. Free retired form the United States Air Force following 2 enlistments totaling over 20 years of service. He served during the Vietnam War and the first Gulf War, Desert Storm. In between enlistments in the Air Force, Mr. Free worked for Georgia Power. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed in security for several years. He attended the Columbus Baptist Church in New Jersey.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Ms. Linda M. Free, and her fiance, Alfred Farrell, Highlands, NJ, and Ms. Melissa K. Free, East Windsor, NJ; a grandson, Briar Farrell, Highlands, NJ; 3 brothers, Verner Free, Lawrenceville, Timothy Free, Rome, and John Kelly Free, Miami, FL; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 11am at the Sherwood Forest Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Christie officiating. Interment will follow at 2pm at Georgia National Cemetery with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Sherwood Forest Baptist Church on Friday from 10am until the service hour.
