Ira Scott of Pemberton died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He was 77.
A native of Alabama, he joined the U.S. Air Force at 18 and toured the world, retiring as a master sergeant after 26 and a half years.
Ira was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
He also was a retired warehouseman for Channel Lumber.
Ira was past commander, steward and member of Eden-Stanley American Legion Post 294, Pemberton.
Ira also loved to fish.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn (Fowler) Scott; her children, Carol (Tom) Gentile of Pemberton and Jim Ward of Medford and grandchildren, Brittany, Thomas, Morgan and Jamie; daughter Joyce Johnson (Phil) and grandchildren Rashed and Yasmin Johnson of Georgia; daughter, Terri Binn and grandchildren Kyle and Kylen Binn of South Carolina; son Terrell Scott and granddaughter Evon Scott of New Jersey; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mezola Rich and Myrtis Scott of Pensacola, Fla., sisters, Mary McGrady, Annie Mae Scott and Elmira Johnson and brother, Rufus Scott of Greenville, Ala.; brothers, Robert Scott of Birmingham, Ala., and Willie J. Mitchell of Mobile, Ala.; and Aunt Rosie Ann Womack of Greenville, Ala.
Relatives and friends of Ira''s family are invited to his viewing and visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton Borough, followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment with U.S. Air Force honors will be in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
