Joseph John McGovern , Esquire of Moorestown, Age 51 years. Passed away March 14, 2011 at the Samaritan Hospice Unit, Virtua Hospital, Mt. Holly. He was a native of Gloucester City. Joe was a graduate of Gloucester City High School Class of 1977, Cook College, New Brunswick with a B.S. Degree Class of 1981 and Widener Law School with a Juris Doctorate Class of 1987.

Joe was of counsel for Parker McCay Attorneys at Law, Marlton where he specialized in environmental Law and was a former partner with Blank Rome in Center City, Philadelphia. He was a licensed Attorney in NJ & Pennsylvania. He also was a member of the New Jersey, Camden County & Burlington County Bar Associations and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He authored & published 3 environmental novels.

He was a resident of Moorestown since 1998 and was an avid runner and was noted as the Bandana Man of Moorestown. His friend''s affectionately called him Big McGov.

He was an parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Moorestown.

Beloved Husband of Lisa P. ( Przybylski), Devoted Father of Joseph J. McGovern Jr. at home and Brittany M. McGovern of Rutgers University, New Brunswick and Dear Brother of Theresa McGovern of Maple Shade, James C. McGovern Jr. of Paulsboro, Margaret McGovern of California, Roseanne McGovern of Mt. Ephraim and Daniel McGovern & wife Jane of Haddon Twp.

Relatives and friends of Joseph''s family are invited to his viewing and visitation 6:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday evening at The Moorestown Memorial Home, 334 Chester Ave., Moorestown. There will be no public viewing Friday morning.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main St., Moorestown. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Virtua Hospital, Critical Care Unit 2nd Floor, 175 Madison Ave., Mount Holly, NJ 08060 or the Samaritan Inpatient Hospice Center, 175 Madison Ave, 2 South, Mount Holly, NJ 08060
