Gisela Elsa Edwards of Lake Valley, Pemberton Twp. passed away July 2,2012 at Virtua Rehab., Lumberton. Age 80 years. Gisela was born November 30th,1931 to the late Adolf and Anna Shaefer in Ludwigshafen Am Rhein, Germany. She was the oldest of 3 children. She attended Grafenau Elementary School and High School in Oppau, Germany.

She was married in January of 1956 in a civil ceremony at the German Court House in Heidelberg and again at the Military Chapel ( Turley Barracks) in Mannheim, Germany.

She came to America in 1956 and became a United States Citizen in September of 1961. She was very proud of having attained her citizenship.

She retired from the Burlington County run nursing homes of Evergreen Park and Buttonwood Hospital in New Lisbon where she was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Gisela was a quiet and reserved person. She liked dancing (and was very good at it). She would rather cook than eat out. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, cooking (especially baking), bowling and she was nuts about aerobics.

She is survived by Bobby O. Edwards , her husband of 56 years, a sister Lilo Contossa of Brooklyn, NY, brother Harald Schaefer of Germany; nieces Nancy of Brooklyn,NY; and Gina of Oceanside, NY and a nephew, Douglas Contessa of Freehold,NJ.

Gisela was a loving, sweet and caring wife and will be sorely missed. There will be a viewing and visitation for Gisela 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday evening at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 31 Elizabeth St., Pemberton Borough.

Friends of Gisela''s are invited to her Funeral Service 10:00 AM Tuesday at The McGuire Air Force Base North Chapel, 3827 Schoolhouse Road, Falcon Court, McGuire AFB where there will also be a viewing 9:00 to 9:45 AM prior to her service.

Interment will be in BGWCD Veterans Memoral Cemetery, North Hanover Twp.
